Ruffles & Flourishes – Royalty Free Patriotic Music
We’re busy working on our Epic Patriotic music and came across an interesting aspect of military ceremonial music. At an official event ‘ruffles’ and ‘flourishes’ are performed before a distinguished person’s national anthem (or in the case of the President of the United States, ‘Hail to the Chief’). Ruffles are performed on drums, and flourishes are performed on bugles.
The President receives four ruffles and flourishes, which is the highest honor.
The army has specific regulations regarding how many ruffles and flourishes specific dignitaries receive, and the music performed for them. Here’s a list in case you’re interested:
